Gilroy Event To Kick Off 1,000 Trees Being Planted In Santa Clara Co.

GILROY, CA — One thousand trees will be planted on and around school campuses across Santa Clara County, with a kickoff media event Friday at the county’s Office of Education South County Annex in Gilroy.
The county plans to target “tree deserts” around the county while promoting environmental stewardship among youth.
The ceremony, held on Arbor Day, will include the planting of 27 trees.

Speakers include Santa Clara County Supervisor Susan Ellenberg and County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mary Ann Dewan.
The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and will also be livestreamed on the county’s Facebook page.
