Gilroy Garlic Festival Item Retrieval Starts Thursday
Garlic Festival attendees who left the grounds in a hurry without their personal belongings from the Park Side may get them Thursday.

GILROY, CA —A new month marks the hope of a new day for those affected by the Gilroy Garlic Festival mass shooting Sunday to gain a bit of normality in retrieving items left behind in the frantic chaos that left four dead including the teenage gunman and injured 16.
Beginning Aug. 1, personal items retrieved from the Park Side region of the Garlic Festival site (see attached map) will be returned to individuals requesting the items through the Family Assistance Center at Rucker Elementary School at 325 Santa Clara Ave. The Park Side is located on the right from the entrance road where the historic Miller Red Barn is located.
Vendors will be contacted directly by the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association to arrange for a scheduled pickup. Hours of operation include:

- Thursday and Friday: from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To recover a vehicle from Thursday through Sunday, residents must go to Antonio Del Buono Elementary School at 9300 Wren Ave. in Gilroy between 9 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. where they will be shuttled to the parking lots under law enforcement escort. Those doing so must produce a valid driver’s license, proof of registration and insurance prior to the release of the vehicle.

Those in need of mental health counseling may receive it as the services offered through Santa Clara County have been extended at Rucker Elementary School in Gilroy located at 325 Santa Clara Ave. from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. to cover the weekend. The weekend counseling hours are offered through 5 p.m.
