Authorities did not release the inmate's name, but the only homicide arrest announced in August 2020 by Gilroy police was that of Izaak Bermea.
Officers had responded around 6 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2020, to the 7700 block of Murray Avenue on a report of a female screaming for help and arrived to find a woman severely beaten inside a home. She was taken to a hospital and succumbed to her injuries there, police said. She has been identified by the Medical Examiner's office as Andrea Espinoza, 47, of Gilroy.
