Gilroy To Host Compost Giveaway This Weekend

GILROY, CA — Gilroy is hosting a compost giveaway at Christmas Hill Park on Saturday.

Compost improves the health of soil by helping it retain water and preventing run-off, according to city officials.

People can receive a 32-gallon can of compost and up to two cubic yards of wood chips at the giveaway.

The city is partnering with Recology for the event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. People are advised to bring their own shovel, gloves and containers, and look for signs to direct them to the giveaway location near the ranch site’s dead end.
