Gilroy Man Arrested After String Of Vandalism: Police
Police allege the man shattered windows at several businesses and broke a woman's windshield with his fist Wednesday morning.
GILROY, CA — A Gilroy man was arrested Wednesday morning after police allege he committed several acts of vandalism and assault. According to police, several 911 callers reported a man using concrete blocks and a metal chair to shatter windows at businesses at the Gilroy Premium Outlets shortly before 9 a.m.
As officers responded to the scene, police said they learned the man had used his fist to break the windshield of a car while a woman was sitting in the driver's seat.
Officers found the suspect in the parking lot but reported he was not cooperative with their attempts to de-escalate the situation. Officers used a Taser to subdue the man and place him under arrest.

In a news release, police identified the suspect as Mauricio Medina-Vera, 38, of Gilroy. He was treated by medics at the scene before officers took him to the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of assault and vandalism.
