Gilroy Phone and Internet Issues Continue — Repair Coming by 6 p.m.

The outages have affected all of Gilroy but should be fixed in the coming hours.

What was initially reported as just an outage of connectivity from landlines to 911 has snowballed into a massive issue across Gilroy concerning home phones, cell phones and Internet.

It appears almost all landline use has been out all day, with additional Internet and cell problems reported as well.

Santa Cruz County is experiencing similar problems.

Cruzio in Santa Cruz reported that "AT&T has confirmed a major fiber cut in the area and have dispatched technicians out for repair."

If it is the same issue that is affecting Gilroy, which appears to be the case, a fix is on the way. AT&T estimated the repair to be done by 4 p.m. Gilroy Police Sgt. Pedro Espinoza, however, said that the department was told everthing will be up and running by 6 p.m.
