2 Vehicle Fires, Disabled Big Rig In S. Bay Created Traffic Mess

Vehicle fires and a disabled big rig caused commuting disruptions.

LOS GATOS, CA — Following two vehicle fires, a disabled tractor trailer added to the traffic woes in the South Bay Monday morning.

The big rig blocked a lane on northbound side of U.S. Highway 101 south of the East Capitol Expressway in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol reported. It has since been cleared.

Earlier, there was a vehicle fire reported on the southbound side of State Route 17 north of Madrone Drive in Los Gatos, prompting delays. That incident has also since cleared.

The other handled incident capped off a troubling commute. This one was located on the northbound side of U.S. Highway 101 north of Monterey Highway where the vehicle was "totally engulfed," according to the CHP.
