Dear GUSD Parents/Guardians;

"The good news is that the number of new daily COVID-19 cases is steadily dropping from the surge point on January 5 of over 6,400 new cases to the current 7-day average of 1,760 new cases. However, this means the Omicron virus is still active in our community and we need to continue to be vigilant in our efforts to keep the virus out of the schools.
One major component of the District’s COVID safety approach is to test students and staff before returning from the February break (February 20-26 for all GUSD schools except for GECA students who are off February 21 only).

Test kits for middle and high school students will be distributed from Gilroy High School student parking lot once again. The parking lot is located off of Tenth Street, on Princevalle, in the back of the school, next to the football stadium. Distribution will take place via drive-through. Please stay in your cars and wear a mask as our staff hand you the testing kits.
One of the following pieces of documentation must be in hand and ready to be presented as you drive into the parking lot or you will not be given a test kit. Please have a physical copy or screenshots ready and available to present to staff as WiFi access in the Gilroy High parking lot is unreliable. Acceptable documentation includes:
- Your child/ren’s student ID(s) for the current school year
- A screenshot of your child/ren’s student ID(s) for the current school year
- A screenshot or hard copy of an Aeries page which has identifying information e.g. student’s name, ID, school, etc. (More Information here).
Please use the test kits to test your child/ren on Saturday, February 26 or Sunday, February 27. If your child/ren test positive, please do not send them to school on Monday, February 28.
Please call or email your school to let them know why your child is absent.
Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe and open."
Sincerely,
Deborah A. Flores
