MORGAN HILL, CA — The emergency brake is an important tool for a motorist's vehicle — even outside the hilly streets of San Francisco.

Case in point, Morgan Hill Police officers assisted the California Highway Patrol Thursday with a runaway vehicle in the east foothills of Morgan Hill.

The vehicle plowed through a field, cutting into the grass on the property and slamming into a fence at the end.

The incident occurred off Diana Street, Morgan Hill Police spokesman Bill Norman told Patch.

"Luckily no people or animals were injured just fences and property," police said in a Facebook post, adding: "This is a good reminder to set your vehicle's emergency brake; and yes, most important shift lever to park."
