Razor Blade Found In Halloween Candy In South Bay: Police

A girl bit into a Milky Way that had a razor blade hidden inside the nougat, police said.

GILROY, CA — A teenage girl bit into a piece of Halloween candy Wednesday in Gilroy and found a razor blade shoved inside of it, police said.

The girl told Gilroy Police Department officers that on Wednesday evening she bit into a Milky Way candy bar and discovered a razor blade inside of the nougat, police said.

The girl's family called the GPD the next morning.

The teen was not seriously injured, police said.

She told police she had only gone trick or treating in neighborhoods near her home on Westwood Drive.

Police said anyone with information should contact Sergeant Kenneth Ellsworth at kenneth.ellsworth@cityofgilroy.org.

"As a reminder, please check your children’s candy to ensure all is safe to eat. If anything appears to have been tampered with, throw the candy away immediately. Should any other serious issues regarding candy arise, please report them to us immediately," police said.
