San Martin Man Dies In Hit-And-Run Collision
The incident happened Monday in unincorporated Santa Clara County between San Martin and Gilroy.

SAN MARTIN, CA — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision Monday in unincorporated Santa Clara County between San Martin and Gilroy, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The downed pedestrian was reported to the CHP at 7:16 a.m. on Monterey Street just north of Masten Avenue following a collision with a Honda Civic.

The Honda was traveling north on Monterey Street when it hit a San Martin man walking on the right shoulder of Monterey Street near the edge of the road, CHP officials said.
The 39-year-old man was hit by the right side of the Honda, fell onto the shoulder of the road, and died, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Honda drove away, and the victim was found by a motorist passing by. The motorist called 911, CHP officials said.
A sideview mirror from the right side of a 2016 to 2019 Honda Civic was located at the scene of the crash, according to the CHP. CHP officials believe the mirror came off of the Honda when it struck the pedestrian.
