Santa Clara Co. Superior Court Reopens Courtrooms To Public
As staffing has stabilized as COVID case rates decline in the county, the courtroom and counter access resumed Monday.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — Santa Clara County Superior Court is reopening its clerk's offices and courtrooms to the public starting Monday as COVID-19 infection rates in the county have declined recently.
Because of the spike in cases caused by the more-contagious omicron variant of the virus that affected staffing levels, court officials earlier this month temporary closed courtroom access unless someone was there for a court hearing as a party, attorney, witness, juror or court employee.

The clerk's office public counters were also closed and the court asked people to leave court documents in a dropbox or file them electronically.
However, as staffing has stabilized as COVID case rates decline in the county, the courtroom and counter access will resume next week, court officials said.

"We are happy to be able to reinstate in-person public access to the people of Santa Clara County," Presiding Judge Theodore Zayner said in a statement. "Going forward, it is absolutely critical that anyone who is sick should not come to the court. The court will postpone and reschedule court dates, as necessary, to accommodate those who are ill due to COVID-19."
