South Bay K9 Officer Sniffs Out Drugs During Traffic Stop
A South Bay police dog found a bag containing 27g of meth, morphine pills, Vicodin pills, other prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.
SOUTH BAY, CA -- A South Bay police officer on Feb. 2 credited his "suspicious" canine partner with finding a significant amount of drugs and related paraphernalia in a suspects' vehicle.
The whole scenario unfolded when the Morgan Hill Police K9 team stopped a vehicle in the area of Dunne Ave/US 101 a few days ago. According to the MHPD, the driver did not want to pull over for quite some time, thereby raising the K9 officer's "suspicions."
When the car finally pulled into the parking lot at a CVS drug store and the driver's ID was checked, it turned out that the driver, whose name and city of residence were not revealed, had a warrant for his arrest and was driving on a suspended license.

After that, the arresting officer said in a Facebook post, his four-legged, furry partner, Basco (#K9Basco) acted on his doggie instincts and had a little sniff around the vehicle and was alerted by the presence of narcotics in the vehicle's trunk area.
"Inside the trunk was a bag that contained 27g of meth, morphine pills, Vicodin pills, other prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and needles," the officer wrote. The items can be seen in the above photo.

An unidentified female passenger in the vehicle also had used needles in her possession and was also arrested, police said.
Back at the police station, Basco took a little break afterward while his partner wrote the report, as seen in the second photo above.
