Thanksgiving Recipe That California Googles Most

GILROY, CA -- From the garlic capital to you -- Thanksgiving is next week, and you know what that means: copious amounts of savory turkey, creamy mashed potatoes and fluffy bread rolls. As you may expect, most people in California are looking up recipes for turkey.

That’s according to a new report from SatelliteInternet.com, which analyzed the top-searched recipes on Google Trends from November 2017. Turkey and turkey-related recipes were searched for in 13 states, tied for most with green bean and corn casseroles. The Golden State was among them seeking that perfect golden meat.

Thanksgiving dessert recipes, such as pumpkin pie, pecan pie and Jell-O, were searched for the most in 12 states.

Turkey isn’t the only Thanksgiving food Americans are partial to:

• Georgia has given up on turkey altogether and is sticking with honey-baked ham.
• The Midwest loves casseroles. Green-bean casserole ranks number one, but it’s no surprise that corn casserole is also popular in the Corn Belt.
• Vermonters searched for “ambrosia salad.” We thought this sounded super fancy, but it turned out to be that nasty whipped-cream mess everyone’s least favorite relative brings to the table. Colored marshmallows? Really, Vermont?
• On the other hand, cornbread dressing from Louisiana looks like the perfect alternative to a dry ol’ stuffing.
• Only North Carolina and South Carolina understand the importance of a fantastic mac and cheese with your Thanksgiving dinner.
• To the New England states looking for Thanksgiving dessert ideas, these states have you covered:
  • Oklahoma and Arkansas recommend the pecan pie.
  • Utah and Idaho offer up Jell-O, probably with some sort of fruit floating in it.
  • Washington is pro pumpkin pie.

Perhaps more interesting, a map of the Google searches showed some distinct geographical trends. The Midwest, for example, was dominated by casserole searches. States that searched for casseroles most included Colorado, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and Missouri.
