Tule Elk East Of Gilroy: Patch Photo Of The Week
Patch loves photos! Share your photos with Patch, and your work could be featured.

GILROY, CA — Patch reader and local photographer Cale Jones shared this dramatic photo of tule elk about an hour east of Gilroy in the morning hours.
Jones pointed out a historic tidbit: "In the late 1800's everyone thought these elk went extinct due to over-hunting. One day, they found a breeding pair still alive and now the protected animals are estimated to be over 4000 -- quite a comeback but they still have a long way to go."
