Ghost Gun With Extended Magazines Seized In SMC Traffic Stop

Police pulled over a reckless driver and found an unregistered semi-automatic handgun.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — Officers responded to a report of a reckless driver on the highway Sunday in Half Moon Bay and when they pulled over the driver they found a "ghost gun" and two extended magazines, including one with a 27-round capacity, police said.

At around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies received a call about a reckless driver traveling from 1-280westbound on Highway 92, approaching Half Moon Bay.

Deputies said they found the car and pulled over the driver, which contained three people.

Police said they learned the driver was an unlicensed San Jose resident.

One of the passengers, later identified as Isaac Lopez, 18, of San Jose refused to exit the car.

Deputies said they detained Lopez and found a loaded semi-automatic handgun and two loaded magazines, one that could hold 27 rounds and another 15, in a bag in Lopez was carrying.

Police said they arrested Lopez for possession of a loaded unregistered firearm, extended magazines, a firearm in a vehicle and resisting arrest.
