Man Out On Bail Arrested For Alleged Burglary, Drugs In Half Moon Bay

The suspect could face new felony charges after authorities allege he stole from a business and was carrying drugs while released on bail.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A man faces several new charges after authorities allege he burglarized a Coastside business and was carrying drugs while out on bail for earlier offenses.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, deputies on patrol in Half Moon Bay spotted a "known probationer" around 1:15 a.m. Monday near a Chevron station on North Cabrillo Highway.

Deputies identified the man as Jose A. Reyes Neri, 42, and determined he was carrying drugs, drug paraphernalia and multiple items that appeared to be stolen.

After further investigation, the sheriff's office said the deputies tracked down the rightful owners of the stolen wares, including a Half Moon Bay business that was unknowingly burglarized the day before.

Reyes Neri was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of several crimes, including second-degree burglary, committing a felony while on bail and drug-related crimes.

According to jail records, he remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
