Miramar Unveils 3 Upcoming Bay Area Festivals

HALF MOON BAY, CA — The Bay Area's festival season is set to heat up as fall nears, including a trio of events planned in September and October in Half Moon Bay and Mountain View.

Miramar Events unveiled its 2023 fall schedule on Wednesday, highlighting the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off, and the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival.

The fun kicks off in early September in Mountain View, marking the 51st iteration of "a festival like no other." This year's Mountain View Art & Wine Festival boasts 350 artists and craft-makers, live music, and curated food and drink menus taking over downtown on Sept. 9 and 10.

In October, the "world heavyweight championship of gargantuan gourds" returns to Half Moon Bay for its 50th year as the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off gets underway. The "Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs" promises the grand prize winner a payout of $9 per pound. A $30,000 mega-prize is up for grabs if a grower can top the world record of 2,703 pounds. Defending champ Travis Ginger set the North American record at Half Moon Bay last year with a pumpkin weighing 2,560 pounds.

This year's champion will also get a free weekend at the Ritz-Carlton and a starring role at the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival.

That festival takes place the following weekend, on Oct. 14 and 15, featuring pumpkin creations and harvest-inspired arts and crafts, delicious food, the Great Pumpkin Run, and more.
