New Coastside Building Opens To Support, Mentor Youth In Bay Area
The sheriff spearheaded this project to open a centralized space for young kids and teens who live on the coast to receive support.
HALF MOON BAY, CA — Community members gathered Saturday in Half Moon Bay for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Coastside Sheriff's Activities League Building.
San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus envisioned having a safe and centralized space for kids to access mentorship programs, academic support, and community activities close to local schools located at 235 Main Street.
“This building stands as a promise that we are investing in the future of our kids. The Sheriff’s Activities League is far more than a crime-prevention program. It’s a place where young people find their voice, build confidence, and develop real, lasting connections with each other, with deputies, and with the community around them,” Corpus said. “To our local youth community, this building is yours.”
