17 Finalists Announced For Dream Job In Sonoma County

Murphy-Goode Winery received more than 5,000 video applications for its "Really Goode Job" paying $10,000 a month. Here are the final 17.

GEYSERVILLE, CA — After reviewing video pitches from 5,000 people from across the United States vying for "A Really Goode Job" in northern California wine country, the field has been narrowed to 17 finalists.

It started with a job listing from Murphy-Goode Winery offering $10,000 a month, a year's worth of free wine, and somewhere to live rent-free while at the winery. Whoever gets the job could become a winemaker, or help with harvesting and other tasks, a video promoting the job opening showed.

For the first 90 days, the new hire will shadow Dave Ready Jr., the son of one of the Murphy-Goode founders and their current head winemaker who has been described as a "rockstar in the winemaking world and out."

"As Murphy-Goode's winemaker, I have a fortunate advantage: our winery's history. I know the taste of the grapes; my direct experience tells me when the vineyard is at optimal ripeness," Ready Jr. said on the winery's website.

But first things first, the field had to be narrowed to the final 17.
