2 Die In River Road Rollover Crash: CHP

There were no witnesses to the crash that claimed the driver's life and his passenger's.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Two people died in a car crash Tuesday night on River Road in the Fulton area, according to the California Highway Patrol's Santa Rosa Area Office.

Emergency personnel with the CHP and Sonoma County Fire District responded to the fatal crash shortly before 11 p.m. on River Road west of Laughlin Road/Woolsey Road and found a Chevy Trailblazer SUV off the roadway on its side.

A male driver and female passenger were in the car and were both pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The CHP does not believe any other cars were involved in the collision.

Preliminary investigation indicated the Trailblazer was traveling east on River Road when for reasons still under investigation, the SUV drifted off the right side of the roadway where it collided with a tree and came to rest on its side, according to the CHP.

There were no witnesses to this double-fatal crash, the CHP said.

The Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner's Bureau was expected to release the crash victims' identities once their family members were properly notified.
