3 Earthquakes Strike Sonoma County Minutes Apart

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Three earthquakes were recorded Thursday afternoon in northern Sonoma County near The Geysers, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The first quake was 3.4 magnitude and struck at 1:16 p.m. less than a mile from The Geysers. The second quake was 3.6 magnitude and struck 30 seconds later at 1:16 p.m. about 2 miles from The Geysers, the USGS said.

The third quake was 2.2 magnitude and struck at 1:18 p.m.

The earthquakes, which hit some 23 miles north of Santa Rosa, were felt in Healdsburg, Cloverdale, Geyserville, Calistoga, Santa Rosa, Pope Valley, Sonoma, Middletown and Kelseyville, according to responses submitted to the USGS.
