CHP Reports Fatal Head-On Collision On River Road
A driver died and two people were hospitalized with injuries in the Guerneville crash, the CHP said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA ā A head-on collision Wednesday in Guerneville left one person dead and two people injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and was reported at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on River Road at Bonita Avenue, the CHP said.
The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated a Chevrolet Blazer S-10 was traveling eastbound on River Road toward Bonita Avenue and a GMC Canyon was traveling westbound on River Road at an unsafe speed, approaching the Chevrolet.

For unknown reasons at this time, the CHP said, the GMC veered sharply to the left and the left front of the GMC crashed into the left front of the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the GMC suffered minor injuries and his right front passenger suffered major injuries; both were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Sonoma County Sheriff-coroner's Office was expected to identify the Chevrolet driver once their family members were properly notified.
The CHP asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
