Kayaker Found 'Unresponsive' In Bodega Bay
A kayaker has died after he was found face down in the water near his boat in Bodega Bay today.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A kayaker was found face down in the water near his boat in Bodega Bay today.
He was wearing a personal flotation device, and it is not clear how he ended up in the frigid water near Doran Beach.
"The Coast Guard located an unresponsive adult male in the water wearing a personal flotation device, near a kayak equipped for crabbing," Sonoma Sheriff spokesman Juan Valencia said in a statement on social media.

Another kayaker found the man in the water and tried to rescue him.
It is still unclear how he came to be in the water and if he had experienced a medical emergency, Valencia. said.

He was taken to the Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Officials have not yet released the man’s name to the public.
“The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased during this profoundly difficult time,” Valencia said.
