Look for Blue Moon This Morning
Full Moon to set between 6:30 and 7 a.m.; rises again at 7:13 p.m.

Today's Blue Moon is special for a lot of reasons.
First, a Blue Moon is, by definition, special already. It is the second Full Moon that occurs within the same month, so it is rare and signficant.

According to an article in the L.A. Times, this Blue Moon today is also special because you will be able to see it twice: once when it sets between 6:30 and 7 a.m., and again when it rises at 7:13 p.m.

Cathleen Balfour, a counselor at Holistic Health and WellBeing in Spokane, Wash., said the Aug. 31 Blue Moon was even more special than most.
"Some say there is no significance to this moon," Balfour said. "But I am guided that the Blue Moon is an auspicious celestial occurrence that is giving us ample opportunity for growth.
"This is a time to take full advantage and set new personal intentions to refine the way we experience happiness," she said.
Balfour refers to Bay Area authors Rick Foster and Greg Hicks, who have written several books on happiness.
"According to Foster and Hicks, true happiness is a profound, enduring feeling of contentment, capability and centeredness," Balfour said. "It's a rich sense of well-being that comes from knowing you can deal productively and creatively with all that life offers -- both the good and the bad.
"It's knowing your internal self and responding to your real needs, rather than to the demands of others," she added. "And it's a deep sense of engagement -- living in the moment and enjoying life's bounty."
