Air over Healdsburg:

Here are the top 3 stories today in Healdsburg:
- It's all anyone can talk about — a trio of well-known local restaurateurs are opening a casual new Italian restaurant called Molti Amici in the old Campo Fina space downtown. And the San Francisco Chronicle and Healdsburg Tribune have some more exciting details. They say the new restaurant will be opening "this summer," although the Press Democrat previously reported it could be as soon as May. “It’s not going to be the same menu that Campo had, but it’s going to be wood fire pizzas, wood fire entrees, handmade pastas, extruded pastas, vegetable forward dishes, where the meat becomes more of a condiment,” new owner Jonny Barr tells the Trib. He says the lunch and dinner menus will be slightly different, with the latter including “more wood-fired proteins and large shared items out of the woodfire oven.” More from the Trib: "The space at 330 Healdsburg is now gutted back to its brick walls — furniture and facilities are gone, but the woodfire oven still stands immovable in the back dining area. The bocce court will remain as well, and Barr plans to keep the 'wall of champions' intact through the remodel, which he describes as 'just a facelift.'" And the Chronicle reports: "Expect Neapolitan pizzas, handmade pastas and hearty wood-fired entrees like whole fish and steak. An in-depth wine program will focus heavily on Italian and European wines, but will highlight local producers, too. For cocktails, diners will find Italian classics like the negroni, spritzes and digestifs for dessert. ... Barr said he hopes to keep prices reasonable — similar to what they were at Campo Fina, where a pizza cost about $20 — and will bring back the popular Wednesday night bocce league. ... He described Molti Amici’s design as a cross between filmmaker Wes Anderson and Sonoma County. While Campo Fina was warm, classic and cozy, this space, which seats 115, will be light and airy with pastel colors." (Healdsburg Tribune & SF Chronicle & Press Democrat; paywalls)
- The lineup is live and tickets are about to go on sale for this year's Healdsburg Jazz Festival, which will be the 25th anniversary edition. It will last for nine days, from June 17 through June 25. Healdsburg Jazz members will be able to purchase their tickets starting next Tuesday, April 4, and ticket sales open for everyone else on April 9. The lineup will include "today’s hottest artists like NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves, 2023 Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy Award winner Samara Joy, percussion maestro and Healdsburg Jazz artist-in-residence John Santos, and so many more," organizers say. "With ticketed and free community concerts, the Festival has something for everyone. Join us for this spectacular celebration as we honor our glorious past and pave the way for the next quarter century!" Shows will be held at local venues like the Elephant in the Room pub, Hotel Healdsburg, The Madrona hotel, the Raven Theater, the Bacchus Landing wine tasting collective and Ferrari-Carano Winery. Plus one show — by Carlitos Medrano and Sabor de mi Cuba — in the Healdsburg Plaza! You can see the full lineup on the Healdsburg Jazz website. - Longtime Healdsburg resident Rebecca Gallagher, a prominent local educator and mother to Courtney and Rory, reportedly passed away "suddenly" a couple of weeks ago at age 70. She and her husband Bob moved to Healdsburg in the early 1980s and lived here for more than 30 years, according to her obituary. She spent a long career "as an educator and career developer for Sonoma County students," her obit says, and "was passionate about supporting and educating at-risk youth whose backgrounds made continued schooling a particular challenge. She taught at many Sonoma County schools, including Marce Beccera, Ridgeway, Montgomery High School, and Sonoma County Juvenile Hall, covering subjects from English to History to Entrepreneurship. More recently, Rebecca spent much of her time outside the classroom as a Career Development Coordinator for the Sonoma County Office of Education and as a Board Chair for the California Jump$tart Coalition. She developed curriculum specific to career readiness, financial literacy, business creation, and other competencies that broadly prepare students for success in the workplace and professional life. Hearing from former students who found their way to enriching careers was an immeasurable joy for Rebecca." May she rest in peace. (Legacy.com)
