A Motorcyclist Was Killed And A Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI After Crashing Near Valley Ford Road

A motorcyclist collided head-on with a minivan before being struck by another vehicle on Highway 1 near Bodega Bay.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist was killed and a woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Sunday on state Highway 1 in a rural area of Sonoma County, the California Highway Patrol said.

Just after 2 p.m. Sunday, CHP officers responded to a collision involving three vehicles on Highway 1 north of Valley Ford Road, southeast of Bodega Bay.

Investigators believe that a southbound motorcyclist crossed over the double yellow lines to try to pass other vehicles.

The motorcyclist entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with a minivan, and was ejected from the motorcycle, the CHP said. The motorcyclist was then struck by another vehicle and died.

The female driver of the minivan suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI involving drugs, according to the CHP.

This crash remains under investigation, the CHP said.
