North Bay Storm-Related Road Closures: Caltrans List

With a coastal flood advisory in effect daily, many of these storm-related closures may continue.

NORTH BAY, CA — The latest winter storm system to move through the Bay Area resulted in various highway closures because of flooding and other road hazards.

With the North Bay shoreline under a morning coastal flood advisory every day through Saturday, several of the closures may remain in place. Flooding is most likely from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day. Tidal levels are running up to 1.5 feet higher than tidal predictions, according to the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area.

Here is Caltrans' list of storm-related road closures in Napa and Sonoma counties as of 4 p.m. Monday.

Napa County

  • State Highway 121 (SR 121): Closed between state Highway 12 and Arnold Drive. All lanes were blocked by flooding late Monday.
  • State Highway 128 (SR-128): Closed from Foss Hill Road to Chalk Valley in both directions due to down trees, power lines and landslides.

Sonoma County

  • State Highway 116 (SR-116): Closed in both directions in Forestville between Green Valley Road and Neely Road.
  • State Highway 1 (SR-1): Closed at Bay Hill Road in Bodega Bay due to power lines and a fallen tree.
  • State Highway 128 (SR-128): Closed in Alexander Valley due to a large mudslide. Power and telecommunications lines were also blocking the roadway.
  • State Highway 121 (SR-121): Closed in Schellville between 8th Street and State Highway 116 (SR-116) due to flooding; closure includes State Highway 12 (SR-12) between Watmaugh Road and SR-121.
  • State Highway 116 (SR-116): Closed between Levie Lane and Green Valley Road; all lanes are blocked by downed trees onto power lines.

Additionally, the following Bay Area road closures were still in effect at 4 p.m. Monday, according to Caltrans.

San Francisco County

  • Northbound state Highway 35 (SR-35) at John Muir Drive: Lane reduction due to a slip out.

Santa Clara County

  • State Highway (SR-9) from Sanborn Road to Redwood Gulch Road: Closed due to mudslide debris.
  • State Highway 9 (SR-9) in Saratoga, from Sanborn Road to Redwood Gulch: Roadway closed due to to mudslides and downed trees.

San Mateo County
