• Locally Founded Nonprofit Is Fighting Fire With Firewood (pressdemocrat.com) — A Healdsburg resident has launched the Good Fire Project, turning trees cut for wildfire protection into boxed firewood now sold at Big John’s Market in town. The nonprofit aims to support local fire mitigation, reduce waste, and eventually expand beyond Sonoma County while funding year-round resilience work. For now, Healdsburg shoppers can directly support the effort with each $14 box.
   

• The Fires Inside: First Responders Resiliency vows to build self-care center for first responders (ksro.com) — First responders from around the region recently spent three days at Bishop’s Ranch in Healdsburg learning science-based tools to manage stress, trauma, and PTSD. Sonoma County nonprofit First Responders Resiliency now plans a dedicated 18-acre self-care and training center near Cotati, aiming to change first-responder culture and reduce disease, addiction, and suicide linked to the job’s chronic stress.
   

• Organized retail theft crackdown operation in Santa Rosa results in 17 arrests (cbsnews.com) — Healdsburg police joined Santa Rosa and other agencies in a coordinated crackdown on organized retail theft that led to 17 arrests at stores along Santa Rosa Avenue. Undercover officers, live camera monitoring, and a mobile booking station supported the all-day operation, which recovered merchandise and uncovered additional charges in an earlier high-value theft case. Officials say the effort reflects a broader county push against organized shoplifting rings.
