Road Closures Required In Healdsburg For Special Events This Weekend

HEALDSBURG, CA — Road closures will be in effect this weekend near the Healdsburg Plaza to accommodate two special events, the city's Community Services Department announced Tuesday.

The first road closure is for Healdsburg Jazz Festival's Juneteenth Celebration. Plaza Street is closed between Healdsburg Avenue and Center Street from noon to 11 p.m. (or until the roadway is clear ) Saturday, June 17.

The Juneteenth Celebration is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Healdsburg Plaza, at Matheson Street and Healdsburg Avenue. Soon after the end of the Civil War, Black communities throughout the nation celebrated independence every June 19 with gatherings, delicious food, and of course good music. Healdsburg Jazz is proud to present a diverse range of music, art, culture, and education in honor of this holiday, free to the public in the Healdsburg Plaza.

Healdsburg Juneteenth performances celebrate the wide range of Black music and art including gospel, early blues, New Orleans jazz, funk, R&B, spoken word, and straight-ahead modern swing. There will also be arts, crafts, and music workshops in the plaza for families and young people led by esteemed teaching artists.View complete event information on the city website.

Fitch Mountain Footrace

The next day, from 6 a.m. until noon (or until the roadway is clear) Sunday, June 18, Center Street is closed between North Street and Plaza Street to accommodate the Fitch Mountain Footrace.

The Healdsburg Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship Fund presents the 47th Fitch Mountain Footrace from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, also at the Healdsburg Plaza at Matheson Street and Healdsburg Avenue. The annual family fun run raises money for scholarships to fund college and vocational scholarships for local youth. Each year over $10,000 in scholarships is awarded to local kids.
