Smell Smoke? Cloverdale Fire District Conducts Prescribed Pile Burn

Residents should anticipate the presence of smoke in the area during the burn operation, the Cloverdale Police Department said

CLOVERDALE, CA —The Cloverdale Fire Protection District and Sonoma County Fuels Crew were partnering to carry out a prescribed pile burn Tuesday and possibly Wednesday at Porterfield Creek Open Space Preserve in Cloverdale.

Residents should anticipate the presence of smoke in the area during the burn operation, the Cloverdale Police Department said.

While Porterfield Creek trails remain accessible, park visitors may see or smell smoke in the vicinity, police said.

Certain parts of the preserve, such as 3 Bridges Trail, were expected to be temporarily closed for public safety reasons. Trail closure signs will be posted in the affected areas. The Parks & Recreation Department can be reached at 707-894-1707 with further questions about trails.
