SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The temporary closure of the Main Street bridge over Dutch Bill Creek in Monte Rio was announced Monday by the Sonoma County Department of Public Infrastructure.

There were critical damages to the bridge from recent winter storms. One lane of the road had remained open with traffic control; however, following reports of drivers not observing the lane closure, department officials determined a full temporary closure to all vehicles was necessary to ensure public safety.

The bridge will be reopened to traffic after temporary traffic signal lights are installed.

Until then, the bridge is closed at Bohemian Highway and Main Street, just south of the Monte Rio bridge that spans the Russian River. Officials asked the public to use Fir Road as an alternate route from Main Street to Bohemian Highway.

Businesses on Main Street remain accessible during the closure. Sidewalks also remain open for pedestrian and bicyclist access to the bridge during the temporary closure affecting vehicle traffic.
