Suspicious Pipe Found On U.S. 101 Not Explosive: Sonoma Sheriff
A Santa Rosa freeway exit was closed as the sheriff's bomb squad responded to assess whether it was a pipe bomb.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Caltrans workers found a suspicious pipe they believed could be a pipe bomb Monday morning on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
The pipe was found around 10 a.m. just north of the downtown Santa Rosa exit. The exit was shut down for 10 minutes while the sheriff's office's bomb squad rendered it safe, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.
Deputies removed the device to be processed for evidence, but it does not appear the pipe was an explosive device, only suspicious in nature, Crum said.
