2 Teens Arrested In Assault Of 56-Year-Old Man Near South Bay Pier

Several teenagers assaulted a man a short distance from The Strand, Hermosa Beach police say.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with the assault of a 56-year-old man in Hermosa Beach, police announced Wednesday.

The two teenagers were booked into jail in Hermosa Beach and will be taken to juvenile hall, according to police.

Several teenagers assaulted a man at about 8 p.m. Friday near 11th Court and Beach Drive, a short distance from The Strand, police said.

“Your Hermosa Beach Police Department takes this violent crime and all crime very seriously,” police said. “We understand the concerns of the community and have been working nonstop to identify those involved and bring them to justice.”

According to police, they have been fielding phone calls, combing through emails and processing videos.

Through an investigation, police said they identified five teenagers, between the ages of 13 and 15, involved in the Friday incident and arrested the two “juveniles identified as primary aggressors in this case.”

Police said they have been speaking with the teenagers’ parents and are working on a case to present to the prosecutor’s office, which will decide if criminal charges will be filed.

“We know the videos circulating are disturbing,” police said. “As with all cases, we take this seriously and appreciate the community’s patience while we continue to work on this case.”
