Budget and Enrollment on School Board Agenda
The panel is expected to approve last year's appropriations spending limit and the 2010-'11 budgeted amount.

Now that school is in session, the Hermosa Beach City School District school board will be meeting in City Council Chambers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to present this year's enrollment report as well as approve this year's budgeted spending amount.
The board will approve the appropriations spending limit from last year, which needs to be calculated and submitted to the state as part of a requirement under the Department of Education. These calculations affect how the state monitors spending.
While reviewing and approving last year's appropriations limit, the board will also discuss and approve this school year's budgeted amount, which business manager Angela Jones recommended should be $6,199,819.87.

Other items that the board plans to vote on include adopting administrative regulation and policies regarding the Williams Uniform Complaint Procedures, which outline the process of filing and responding to complaints regarding deficiencies in school supplies or facilities that pose a threat to the health and safety of students and teachers.
The board will also consider approving its contract with Discovery Benefits to provide Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) health benefits to all eligible staff. Legislation that passed last year subsidized COBRA premiums as part of an economic stimulus plan.

For students, the South Bay Children's Health Center may provide counseling services starting in October as part of a Beach Cities Health District counseling grant. The board will vote on whether or not to approve this consultant service.
Other items that the school board will take action on include the use of tax funds, as well as landscaping possibilities.
