Celebrities 'Spike for Hope' at the AVP
Adrian Bellani, Stephen Baldwin and other stars raise money for children with cancer.
Famous athletes, actors and actresses took a break from watching the AVP games Saturday to raise money for the Padres Contra el Cancer Foundation. The 25-year organization hosted a "Spike for Hope" charity beach volleyball match at the tournament's main stadium.
Proceeds from the event support the foundation's programs that help Latino families caring for a child with cancer. Nearly 50 percent of the 1,500 children in California diagnosed with cancer each year are Latino, according to the organization.
Adrian Bellani, AVP Chair and actor, spoke with some of these children at the charity event who were invited as special guests by the Padres foundation.
