Holiday Tree Dumpsters Coming

Each year the city helps residents dispose, recycle their holiday trees.

If you're ready to take down the tree, Hermosa Beach's Christmas tree disposal program is here to help this season—and it starts now.

On Tuesday, the city will set up Christmas tree dumpsters where residents can drop off their trees just south of the along the greenbelt parking lot on Valley Drive (see accompanying photo from last year.)

Each year trash pickup also collects trees and transports them to recycling centers to be processed as green waste. This year, trees will be collected from residences on the first three regularly scheduled collection days starting Monday, according to this notice from the city.

To help the process run smoothly this year, remember these tips:

  • When disposing of your tree, if it is more than 6 feet tall, it must be cut in half so it can be easily moved.
  • Residents are also encouraged to remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, metal and other decorations from the tree before leaving it on the curb or at the city's drop-off location.
