Hermosa Beach Parking Permit Design Winner Revealed
The design will appear on the City's 2020-2021 residential parking permits.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Hermosa Beach resident Katrina Zawojski was chosen as the winner of the Hermosa Beach parking permit design contest, the City of Hermosa Beach announced last week.
Her design, which will appear on the City’s 2020-2021 residential parking permits, "prominently features the City’s name surrounded by vibrant hues of pink and blue along with palm trees, abstract ocean waves and a dolphin’s tale," the City of Hermosa Beach said.
Zawojski, who works as a senior copywriter for a local toy company, said her fascination with typography drove her design approach. She wanted Hermosa Beach and all the permit’s required words to be the centerpiece, the City said.

"I’m really excited and a little relieved," Zawojski said. "I talked myself out of entering this contest for the past five years. So finally committing to the project was an accomplishment in itself. My personal goal — and wish for everyone — is to continue to go after creative endeavors, no matter how intimidating they may seem at the start."
City staff unveiled the new design for the residential parking permit at the City Council meeting last Tuesday. As the winner of the annual contest, Zawojski will receive a residential parking permit at no charge.
