Landmark Hermosa: Citibank

in downtown Hermosa Beach is housed in what used to be called the Walker Building on the northwest corner of Pier and Hermosa avenues.

The Walker Building dates back to the early 1900s, according to Hermosa Beach Historical Society archives. Previously the building site was home to the freight offices.

Then a building was constructed as the First Bank of Hermosa Beach, organized by James Walker, according to the historical society. Around 1913 the Hermosa Beach Public Library also occupied a room in the building.

The bank later was known as the First National Bank, and now the building still provides banking services to Hermosa Beach.
