The Rockefeller Hires Celebrity Chef Cody Diegel, Debuts New Menu

The new menu officially launches today at both the Manhattan and Hermosa Beach locations.

The Rockefeller has hired away Cody Diegel from The Larchmont in Larchmont Village as executive chef of its Manhattan Beach’s and Hermosa Beach’s gastropubs, and he’s already tinkering with the menu.

The new menu officially launches today at both the Manhattan and Hermosa Beach locations. He is also mixing things with the 99 cent weekly special by creating a new specialty burger each week.

  • The Rockefeller is located at 422 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach.

Diegel’s burgers have been declared the best by thrillist.com. This week’s features roasted poblano peppers, pepper jack cheese, house made guacamole, frisée salad and lime crema, according to a press release.

“The new dishes reflect Cody’s commitment to locally-sourced, organic ingredients, and he plans to update the menu every few months to reflect what is currently in season,” according to the release.

Here are a few of the new items:

  • Manhattan meatballs, veal, pork, beef chuck, pomodoro sauce, basil, parmesan
  • Grilled pork chop, all natural Niman ranch pork, sweet potato puree, roasted mushrooms, cipolini onion, baby kale, demi glace
  • Wagyu burger, ground American wagyu chuck, truffle bacon jam, overnight tomatoes, frisee, taleggio, garlic aioli
  • Allagash fish and chips


According to his bio at The Larchmont, “after an impressive career in his home town of Colorado, Cody Diegel quickly rose to the top, launching the string of his Los Angeles restaurant achievements at the prestigious Michelin-starred Patina, followed by a stay at Moomba where Diegel cooked for countless celebrities and foodies alike. Diegel has since been sought out to open Hollywood hot spot Magnolia, Caulfield’s in the The Thompson Hotel located in Beverly Hills, and spent time abroad cooking as the personal chef to Joan Collins.
