Subcommittee to Hold PCH-Aviation Town Hall

The Hermosa Beach City Council recommends that the PCH-Aviation Improvement Committee's aesthetics group host a town hall meeting to gather resident input.

The Hermosa Beach City Council has recommended that the PCH-Aviation Improvement Committee's aesthetics panel organize a Town Hall meeting to gather input from residents on proposed design additions to PCH and Aviation Boulevard.

The subcommittee presented a report to the council .

Once residents share their thoughts on the project and plans are further developed, council members then will consider directing city staffers to seek architectural firms or consultants to help move forward with a comprehensive improvement plan for the two thoroughfares.

“I think before we go to the next step, you need the public to look at what you’ve done,” Mayor Pete Tucker told subcommittee members Tuesday. “It makes it a little easier to hire someone to come in and he knows where he’s headed. I’ve always given the consultant a whole box of tools and it cuts down the design."

The aesthetics subcommittee plans to focus on the following proposed changes:

  • A city limits entryway arch in three locations.
  • Street name signs to replace the green and white signage now on PCH and Aviation Boulevard.
  • Street furniture to be placed at bus stops, improved trash bins, etc.
  • Trees to line the streets and medians.
