Expanded bike valet

Parking lot space for the bicycle valet area at Fiesta Hermosa was tripled in size as more people were expected to use the service over the weekend. This effort to encourage festival attendees to ride their bikes to and from the event attracted a large amount of media attention.

More Hermosa merchants are turning to the popular social media tool Twitter to reach customers with exclusive sales and freebies. White House Pilates, Barbie's Q food truck, Spyder Surf and Paciugo Gelato are among some of the local businesses that say Twitter has helped them attract shoppers.

Pier Avenue update

Construction on the Pier Avenue Improvement Project is not finished yet, according to Public Works director Rick Morgan. As residents grow frustrated with the ongoing roadwork, Morgan said that setbacks are expected with any major construction project.

The councilman's home

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has opened an inquiry into City Councilman Kit Bobko's residency. An allegation was made earlier this week that Bobko doesn't live in Hermosa Beach, a requirement to serve on the council. Bobko called the accusation "a naked, vindictive, intimidating act."

GaGa gaffe

Police arrested a Hermosa Beach woman Friday in connection with the selling of fake tickets to a Lady GaGa concert on Craigslist. Her attorney said that officers "rushed to judgment." Police found that more than 50 people unknowingly bought counterfeit tickets online.
