LAFD Extinguishes Lincoln Heights Grass Fire
Grass fires kept firefighters busy across the city on Fourth of July evening.
As fireworks filled the skies over Northeast L.A. on Wednesday evening, crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department we're busying dealing with a fire on the ground in Lincoln Heights.
It took a dozen LAFD firefighters to knock down an approximately acre-wide grass fire near 593 E. Ave. 28 on Wednesday at 11 p.m.
No major injuries or damage to property were reported, according to LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey. Fireworks have yet to be ruled out as the cause of the incident.

Humphrey said that the fire in Lincoln Heights was "one of 8 grass, 52 rubbish, 11 tree, 22 structure, 5 auto fire responses citywide where fireworks have yet to be ruled out.'"
Despite that heavy call load, Humphrey said that as of Thursday morning, the department was "unaware of any loss of life or life-threatening injury related to fireworks in L.A. City."
