Our focus has been suppressing violent gang crime in Highland Park. Our specialized units will continue to be out in force. Last night, we received a timely tip about gang activity around Ave 54 east of Figueroa. Our Gang Unit checked it out... 2 Avenues gang members fled in a stolen car. The pursuit went up the 110 Fwy to Via Marisol, where the car crashed. Both gang members fled. The passenger w...as caught with a stolen, loaded handgun in his pocket. The driver, unfortunately, escaped the perimeter but is a named suspect wanted for arrest.
Our gratitude to the community member for the timely tip. Our officers will race into harm's way to stop the violence. I firmly believe that our Gang officers' actions prevented a violent crime last night.
