Pasadena City Council to Discuss SR-710 Tonight
Opponents of the SR-710 extension plan to attend the meeting in large numbers to voice their opposition.

Opponents of the State Route-710 extension are hoping to gain a powerful ally on Monday evening, as the Pasadena City Council will consider a recommendation to oppose three proposed extension projects that would be built through or below the neighborhoods of Garvanza and San Rafael.
The recommendation up for consideration by the City Council reads as follows:
(1) Take an action to formally oppose the following SR-710 Study alternatives currently being considered by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority:
Alternative H-2: An arterial road along the current Avenue 64
Alternative H-6: A highway along Huntington Drive
Fair Oaks/Pasadena Avenue connecting the I-10 to I-210
Alternative F-5: A freeway tunnel connecting I-10 to SR-134
(2) Authorize the Mayor to send a letter to the Metro Board of Directors advising of the City’s position; and
(3) Direct staff to continue to evaluate all other SR-710 Study alternatives and return to City Council with further recommendations as information becomes available.

"It is important to show up in great numbers to make the greatest impact. Of all the meetings this is the first to have a real Metro representative on hand, and they need to see the faces of opposition," posted Charles Miller on the No 710 on Avenue 64 Facebook page.
The Pasadena City Council will meet on Monday, August 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Plaza Building, Room 101-105, of the Pasadena Convention Center located at 300 East Green St.
