HOLLYWOOD, CA โ€” The Hollywood Museum announced they will reopen on August 4, after a lengthy closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. The museum, which opened in 2003, has the most extensive collection of Hollywood memorabilia in the world, including props, costumes and more.

"We are so happy to be able to once again welcome our fans, post pandemic, from the U.S. and all over the world back to The Hollywood Museum," said Donelle Dadigan, founder and president of the museum. "We have been looking forward to this day! Our priority is the safety of our visitors and to ensure everyone has the best experience as they return to the museum."

The museum will reopen with a "Back to the Future" exhibition, the first of its kind according to the Museum. Also on display will be a Cat Women Exhibit and tributes to Marilyn Monroe, Harry Potter, the Pointer Sisters and modern super heroes.

The announcement comes with the news that masks will again be required indoors, regardless of coronavirus vaccination status, after a recent surge in cases. Officials blame the recent surge on the newer "Delta" variant, which is considered more contagious than other mutations, and say unvaccinated Angelenos are almost entirely responsible for the rise.

"I cannot impress upon you more the power of getting vaccinated," Gov. Gavin Newsom said during an appearance Wednesday in Bell Gardens. "If we want to extinguish this pandemic, this disease, we've got to get vaccinated. Period. Full stop. You're seeing again around the rest of the world -- read the headlines in Indonesia right now. Read the headlines in Portugal right now. Read the headlines in the United States of America right now."

The new mandate will go into effect at 11:59 p.m. Saturday night.
