Hot in Hollywood: 3 Ways to Beat the Heat

With morning temps already in the low 70s, forecasters are predicting temperatures will hit the upper 90s to low 100s in the Hollywood Wednesday.

This week's temperatures are several degrees above normal because of an upper-level high pressure system hovering over Southern California and gaining strength, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

"The hot air mass will remain in place through at least Thursday, but could linger through Saturday," according to the NWS. Beginning Wednesday, that air mass will be accompanied by monsoonal moisture, creating humidity levels that will make temperatures feel even warmer than what the thermometer says.

Remember to keep an eye out for elderly who may need assistance. Never leave people or pets in a parked car in the heat and avoid strenuous outdoor activities, like hiking, during the day.

Need a few suggestions on how to keep cool during this heat wave? Grab some froyo, sip some boba or treat yourself to a spiked shake at some of Patch's favorite spots in Hollywood. Here are a few suggestions:

, 6290 Sunset Blvd. - For the ultimate cool-down indulgence, head to Go Burger for a shake. You can't go wrong with options like, Rocky Road, Mudslide or Twinkie Boy. I'd recommend monkey business with chocolate ice cream, peanut butter and bananas. If it's been a tough day, get it spiked!
