It's 'Star Wars Night' At Today's Dodgers Game

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct their eighth annual "Star Wars" Night at tonight's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium, with special pregame and postgame festivities.
"Star Wars" characters will be in the right field plaza before the game to pose for pictures with fans. Pregame ceremonies will include Star Wars- themed games, tributes and a character will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

The customary Friday night postgame fireworks show will be "Star Wars" themed. Fans will be invited onto the field to watch the show, which will take place before 11 p.m. and is subject to cancellation if the game lasts too long.

Two Star Wars-themed alcoholic beverages will be available at the bars in Sections 49 and 50 on the field level. And a Wookie Dog, a hot dog topped with barbecue-smothered pulled pork, will be available at the Think Blue BBQ in Section 51 of the field level and the Extreme Loaded Dog locations on the field, loge and reserve levels.

A "Star Wars" ticket package, including a T-shirt describing Millennium Falcon co-pilot Chewbacca as "The Wookiee Sensation," is available at dodgers.com/starwars.

Former U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Rudy Castro of Los Angeles will be honored as the military hero of the game.

Castro joined the Air Force in 1986 and served as a life- support/survival instructor. His deployments included Operation Just Cause in 1989, the invasion of Panama to capture military dictator Manuel Noriega and bring him to the U.S. to be tried on drug trafficking charges.

Following four years on active duty, Castro later rejoined the Air Force as a reservist, serving as a combat photographer, completing more than 30 missions documenting humanitarian efforts, combat and the global war on terror.

Auto gates will open at 4:40 p.m. and stadium gates at 5:10 p.m. The Dodgers will take batting practice from 4:20-5:20 p.m. and the Diamondbacks from 5:25-6:20 p.m.

Pregame ceremonies, including the national anthem sung by Disney actress Sabrina Carpenter and the ceremonial first pitch, will begin at 6:57 p.m., with the game set to start at 7:10 p.m.
