Iconic Pink Mexican Restaurant Closes Last-Standing LA County Location: Report

Known for its bright pink exterior, Pink Taco's West Hollywood restaurant was the chain's last remaining LA outpost.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Pink Taco, the Mexican restaurant known for its bright pink Sunset Strip building, has closed suddenly after 12 years, KTLA reported.

The restaurant announced it was shutting down on Monday with a sign on the door. The chain, which has three other locations across the country, did not reveal the reason for its closure.

“Effective 9/16/2024 Pink Taco – Los Angeles is closed for business. Thank you to all our West Hollywood visitors. You will be greatly missed," the sign reads.

Pink Taco opened on Sunset Boulevard in 2012 as the chain's second Los Angeles location. The chain was founded in 1999 by Harry Morton, a member of the restaurateur family that spawned Morton's The Steakhouse and Hard Rock Cafe.

Morton, who died in 2019, was also an owner of the iconic Sunset Strip club The Viper Room.

Pink Taco's other LA location, at Westfield Century City, closed in 2016 after eight years in business, Eater reported.

The chain now has three locations remaining: In Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C., according to its website.
