Runners Headed to Hollywood for LA Marathon

Here's everything you need to know about who's running, road closures and where to see the action in Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - Thousands of runners are preparing to flood the Los Angeles streets on March 19 for the 38th annual Los Angeles Marathon, promising fanfare and road closures across the city.

Runners will participate in a full marathon and charity half marathon on Sunday, and a 5K race and kids race on Saturday. The 5K will take place in Elysian Park, ending with a view of Dodger Stadium.

The marathon course will start at Dodger Stadium and finish at Avenue of the Stars in Century City, running past iconic Los Angeles landmarks like Rodeo Drive, the Pantages Theater, Capitol Records, Little Tokyo, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Echo Park Lake.

The Charity Half Marathon will also start at Dodger Stadium and finish in Century City, only completing half the course distance.

The route includes most of Hollywood Boulevard, starting where the street begins south of Los Feliz. Runners will race through Thai Town, the Walk of Fame, and past Hollywood and Highland before turning left at the TCL Chinese Theatre and heading west on Sunset Boulevard into West Hollywood.

Hollywood Boulevard between Hillhurst and La Brea avenues, Sunset Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Doheny Drive – and scores of adjacent streets – will be shut down from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 19. (It'll be a good day to take Fountain.) All closures can be found at this link.

Thousands have signed up to run from all over the country. There are dozens of local runners, who can all be tracked online using this link.
